Felipe Reyes has a new title to his name. He became Euroleague Basketball’s all-time rebounding leader in the final seconds of Real Madrid’s game on Thursday night against reigning Turkish Airlines Euroleague champion Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv at Menora Mivtachim Arena. Reyes claimed his 1,288th rebound to take the title of Euroleague rebounding king away from Turkish giant Mirsad Turkcan, who retired after the 2011-12 season. It was another standout performance for the big man, who led his team with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Reyes, 34, is in his 11th Euroleague season and 10th with Real Madrid.

Reyes also become the competition’s career leader in fouls committed in this same game. He has committed 641 career fouls, which is 1 more than retired Panathinaikos great Kostas Tsartsaris. Reyes has already reigned as the Euroleague’s all-time leader in offensive rebounds since last season. He scored his 2,000th career point last week and ranks 16th on the career scoring list with 2,026 points. Reyes ranks ninth in career performance index rating (2,528), second in free throws attempted (897), fifth in free throws made (645), sixth in fouls drawn (872) and 14th in games played (215) .

Amazingly, Reyes is also among the top rebounders in Eurocup history too, despite playing only three seasons in that competition. He is ranked eighth all-time in the Eurocup with 368 career boards. And his average of 13.03 rebounds per 40 minutes is the best ever in the Eurocup.

A FIBA World Champion with the Spanish national team in 2006, Reyes has a long and distinguished resume to add his rebounding prowess to. He is also a two-time EuroBasket champion among six medals at that event and a 2008 and 2012 Olympic silver medalist. In a Real Madrid uniform, Reyes has won the 2007 ULEB Cup, three Spanish championships and two Spanish King’s Cups. He previously won the 2000 Spanish King's Cup with his boyhood club, Estudiantes Madrid.
