Real Madrid reached a new agreement with star guard Sergio Llull to keep working together until the end of the 2020-21 season, the club announced Monday. Llull (1.90 meters, 27 years old) comes off an outstanding season in which he helped Madrid win all four titles available - Spanish Supercup, Copa del Rey, Spanish League and, above all, the club's first Euroleague crown in 20 years. Llull averaged 10.4 points and a career-best 5.8 assists in 30 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games last season, and he was also chosen as the Spanish League finals MVP. In his 8 Euroleague seasons with Madrid, Llull has accumulated 1,677 points and 597 assists - ranking 10th all-time in this category. Over the span of last eight seasons, Llull ranks 5th in assists, 6th in scoring and 9th in performance index ranking (1,716) in the competition. Llull was chosen to the All-Euroleague second team in 2011 and was selected as the MVP for April 2013. During his career, he has helped Madrid win three Spanish League and three Copa del Rey titles. Llull has also played for La Salle Mahon, Finques Olesa and Basquet Manresa in Spain, as well as being a regular member of the Spanish national team, helping Spain win back-to-back gold medals at EuroBasket 2009 and 2011, reach the 2012 Olympic Games final and get a bronze medal at EuroBasket 2013. Right at the prime of his great career, Llull will now try to help Madrid defend the Euroleague title for the first time since 1967.
