Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv brought back a familiar face to run its offense by signing point guard Jordan Farmar to a one-year deal, the club announced Monday. Farmar (1.88 meters, 29 years old) started last season with the Los Angeles Clippers of the NBA, but soon moved to Turkish side Darussafaka Dogus, where he averaged 14.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, leading the team to third-place Turkish League regular season finish. Farmar returns to Maccabi, where he spent the first half of the 2011-12 season, averaging 14.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.4 steals in 7 games. His best performance came in Week 3 when he earned bwin MVP honors after amassing 27 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 8 fouls drawn for a performance index rating of 35 in a home win against Real Madrid. His only full Turkish Airlines Euroleague campaign so far was with Anadolu Efes Istanbul, when he posted 13.8 points, 3.9 assists and 3.6 boards in 29 games, helping the team reach the 2012-13 Euroleague playoffs and losing in 5 games against eventual champion Olympiacos Piraeus. Farmar is a two-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers, lifting the trophy in 2009 and 2010. He had two stints with the Lakers during his career, and has spent a total of five seasons with that franchise. Farmar also played two seasons with the New Jersey Nets and has 490 NBA games to his resume, averaging 7.7 points and 2.9 assists. Before becoming a pro, Farmar played two seasons for UCLA, leading the team to the NCAA Tournament final in 2006.
