2015-16 Euroleague Draw: Group A at a glance

GROUP B | GROUP C | GROUP D

Real Madrid

Reigning Turkish Airlines Euroleague champion Real Madrid comes off one of its best seasons ever, which is already a lot when you speak of the winningest team in European basketball history. All the main players from Los Blancos’ unbelievable season are back, including Final Four MVP Andres Nocioni and All-Euroleague selections Felipe Reyes and Rudy Fernandez. Accordingly, Madrid targets nothing short of a repeat and will have to take every opponents’ best shot.

Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul

Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul comes off a historic season in which the team reeled off a playoff sweep of Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv and its first-ever Final Four appearance. Coach Zeljko Obradovic has several of his best weapons back from last season, including reigning Euroleague Rising Star Bogdan Bogdanovic and Jan Vesely. Former champs Kostas Sloukas and Pero Antic both signed recently and could be difference makers that help take this team to even new heights. Fenerbahce is on the rise.

Khimki Moscow Region

Reigning Eurocup champion Khimki Moscow Region returns to the Turkish Airlines Euroleague for the fourth time in seven years ready to keep its momentum going and challenge for bigger goals than ever before. Though its roster is a work-in-progress, Eurocup MVP Tyrese Rise, fellow All-Eurocup First tea, guard Petteri Koponen and veteran forward Sergei Monya are among the returning core players for Coach Rimas Kurtinaitis and that already makes this team a dangerous opponent.

Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade

Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade is coming off one of the best seasons in club history and is ready for its third consecutive Turkish Airlines Euroleague appearance. Coach Dejan Radonjic has the main core of young players that shined so bright last season back and they are now a year older, faster and stronger. There is no shortage of star potential on the squad, though Luka Mitrovic, Jaka Blazic and Nikola Kalinic are among the more-recognizable names of returnees. The sky is the limit for this side.

FC Bayern Munich

Always ready to keep growing, FC Bayern Munich has been really active in this off-season and keeps working hard to put together a very competitive roster. Playmaker Alex Renfroe and up-and-coming power forward Maxi Kleber already joined a talented, deep team that also includes Dusko Savanovic, Vasilije Micic, Nihad Djedovic and Anton Gavel, among other. Head coach Svetislav Pesic will keep leading Bayern, which made it to the Top 16 two years ago and will have that initial goal - go past the regular season.

Strasbourg

Strasbourg won two domestic trophies last season and wants to keep it going with a good Euroleague season. Coached by ever-reliable Vincent Collet, Strasbourg already made two major additions - playmaker Rodrigue Beaubois and versatile forward Kyle Weems. It also kept a key player like Matt Howard. A lot of work is yet to be done to finalize its roster, but Strasbourg will only have one initial goal in mind - take one game at a time and see if that can take it past the regular season.
