FC Bayern Munich strengthened its froncourt by inking big man Deon Thompson to a one-year deal on Monday. Thompson (2.03 meters, 26 years old) arrives from Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem, where he averaged 12.8 points and 5.2 rebounds in 15 Israeli League games last season, helping his team lift the trophy. He started the 2014-15 season with Liaoning Jiebao Hunters, averaging 18.7 points and 8.3 rebounds in 50 Chinese League games and leading his team to the finals. Thompson already played for Bayern in the 2013-14 season, averaging 7.3 points and 4.7 rebounds in 21 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games. He helped Bayern win its first German League title in almost 50 years and reach the Euroleague Top 16. Thompson has also played for Ikaros Kallitheas of Greece, Union Olimpija Ljubljana of Slovenia and ALBA Berlin of Germany. He helped Olimpija win the Slovenian Cup title in 2012 and also lifted the German Cup trophy with ALBA in 2013. "I would have loved to have stayed already last season, but in professional sports sometimes things go just different," Thompson said. "I am very happy and excited to come back to Munich and to be back in the Euroleague and the German League, which is developing strongly."
