Stelmet Zielona Gora added size and experience to its roster by inking big man Szymon Szewczyk to a one-year deal on Monday. Szewczyk (2.09 meters, 32 years old) arrives from AZS Koszalin, where he averaged 14.6 points on 63% two-point shooting, 44.1% three-point accuracy and 6.4 rebounds in 31 Polish League games last season. He started his career with Warta Szczecin and has also played for Polpharma-Pakmet Starogard of Poland, Braunschweig and ALBA Berlin of Germany, Union Olimpija Ljubljana of Slovenia, Legea Scafati, Air Avellino, Virtus Rome and Umana Reyer Venice of Italy and Lokomotiv Rostov na Donu of Russia. Szewczyk is also a regular member of the Polish national team. He helped Olimpija win the Slovenian double - league and cup titles - in 2006. He played two Euroleague seasons - with ALBA in 2003-04 and with Olimpija in 2005-06 -, accumulating 165 points and 76 rebounds in 26 games.
