Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassari made official on Thursday the addition of veteran big man Denis Marconato for the upcoming campaign, and therefore completing its roster for the new season. Marconato (2.14 meters, 40 years old) spent last season in the Italian fourth division with Contadi Castaldi Montichiari, where he averaged 4.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. He now comes back to the Turkish Airlines Euroleague for the first time since 2011-12 when he played with Bennet Cantu. That season he averaged 6.2 points and 3.7 rebounds in 15 appearances. Marconato is one of the most veteran players still active in the European basketball scene. He grew up with Benetton Basket Treviso and played there for several seasons. He joined FC Barcelona in 2005, but after a few seasons in Spain he moved back to Italy to play with Milan, Siena, Venice and Cantu among others until now. He is in the Top 10 All Time rankings for Rebounds (10th) and Blocks (5th) in the competition. He was also a member of the Italian national team and won the Olympic silver in 2004. He also won gold (1999), silver (1997) and bronze (2003) medals at the EuroBasket. Marconato has won also four Italian League titles, seven Italian Cups, one Spanish King's Cup and two Saporta Cups with Benetton in 1995 and 2000 among other several collective and individual accolades.
