Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul found another veteran presence for its Turkish Airlines Euroleague debut by signing small forward Manuchar Markoishvili. Darussafaka will be the sixth Euroleague club for the veteran, who arrives from CSKA Moscow. Markoishvili (1.97 meters, 28 years old) averaged 3.6 points in 18 Euroleague games last season to help CSKA reach the Final Four. He also tallied 7.4 points and 2.3 rebounds over 24 games as CSKA won the VTB United League. Markoishvili returns to Turkey after spending a season and a half at Galatasaray Istanbul. He won the 2013 Turkish League title and led the club to the 2014 Euroleague Playoffs.
Markoishvili made his pro debut with Benetton Treviso as a 15-year old and played in the 2003 Euroleague title game with Benetton at age 16. Markoishvili has also played for Cantu in Italy, BC Kyiv in Ukraine, Mitteldeutscher in Germany, Union Olimpija Ljubljana in Slovenia and Basco Batumi in his native Georgia. Markoishvili won the Slovenian double - league and cup titles - in 2005 and 2006, lifted the FIBA Europe Cup trophy with Mitteldeutscher in 2004, helped Benetton to win the Italian League in 2002 and clinched Georgian League titles with Batumi in 2001 and 2002. He is also a member of the Georgian national team.
