Polish champ Stelmet Zielona Gora announced on Thursday a move to secure its future with contract agreemens with youngsters Marcel Ponitka and Kamil Zywert. Ponitka (1.98 meters, 18 years old) will be playing in the same team as his brother Mateusz, who joined the team a few weeks ago. Ponitka arrives from the United States, where he spent one year with Montverde Academy high school in Florida. He played 28 games, averaging 6.1 points, 1.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.4 steals. This marks his comeback to Zielona Gora before his year on the other side of the pond.
Kamil Zywert (1.84 meters, 19 years old) is a point guard who extended his relationship with the team for two more seasons. He suffered an injury last year, but he fought through it and is back to full strength with the team. Last season Zywert made his debut with the first team, but ended the campaign in Nova Sol, where he played 17 games averaging 9.0 points and 2.1 assists.
