Strasbourg put extra size and skill in its frontcourt on Sunday by signing experienced center Vladimir Golubovic to a short-term contract until the end of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Regular Season. Golubovic (2.12 meters, 29 years old) arrives from Unicaja Malaga, where he averaged 6.6 points and 4.8 rebounds in 16 minutes over 24 games last season as a part-time starter. His work on the boards made Golubovic the Euroleague fourth-best rebounder on a per-minute basis last season. The addition of Golubovic will complete Strasbourg's roster for the upcoming season, the team announced.
Two years ago, Golubovic won All-Eurocup First Team recognition playing for Aykon TED Ankara Kolejliler of Turkey, where he posted 19.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.3 steals over 20 games while leading his team to the quarterfinals. Golubovic previously played in the Euroleague with Union Olimpija Ljubljana and Laboral Kutxa Vitoria and has now posted 6.6 points and 4.7 rebounds in 47 career games. He started his career with Vojvodina, in his hometown of Novi Sad in Serbia, and during his career the veteran center also played in Spain for CAI Zaragoza, with Banvit Bandirma and Antalya in Turkey and for Azovmash in Ukraine.
