Olympiacos loses center Young to torn ACL
Group B leader Olympiacos Piraeus suffered a big blow on Friday when it learned that starting center Patric Young tore his anterior cruciate ligament during Thursday's road win over Anadolu Efes Istanbul and may be sidelined long-term. Young hurt his knee with three minutes left in the first quarter when battling for a rebound. He tried to continue playing and returned to action in the second quarter, but soon left the game again and did not return. An MRI on Friday morning in Istanbul revealed he suffered a torn ACL in his left knee. Details of the recovery plan will be announced in the coming days after he is further evaluated in Athens. Young had a stellar start to the season; he leads the Euroleague in blocked shots with 13 through five games. He averaged 10.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 2.6 blocks and was the MVP for Round 1 of the regular season for his performance in a victory over Cedevita Zagreb.
