CSKA Moscow big man Joel Freeland will miss the rest of the season due to injury, the club informed Friday, and therefore won't be able to help the team at the Berlin Final Four. Freeland (2.08 meters, 29 years old) has only played 12 games this season due to injury. He played the last three games of the regular season and then also played in the Top 16 until Round 12 against Brose Baskets Bamberg. Since then, he had not been able to be back to the court. More than a month of conservative therapy and personal training, did not lead to a serious improvement of Freeland's shoulder, injured in that game against Bamberg. In his 12 appearances this season, Freeland averaged 6.8 points and 4.4 rebounds.
On a more positive note for CSKA, team captain Victor Khryapa had his cast removed from his left hand this week, after six weeks wearing due to an injury in a game against Unics Kazan. Khryapa has started practicing individually and will be able to join the team in the upcoming days. Big man Pavel Korobkov has also recovered from knee problems and will be ready to join the team soon, too.
