Getting ready for its return to the Turkish Airlines Euroleague, Unics Kazan signed two-year extensions with its backcourt duo, former Euroleague top scorer and last seasons’ Eurocup scoring leader Keith Langford, as well as point guard and Eurocup assist leader Quino Colom, club announced on Saturday night. A veteran of six Euroleague seasons, Langford (1.93 meters, 32 years old) was 2013-14 Euroleague Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy winner when playing for EA7 Emporio Armani Milan. He was voted All-Euroleague First Team that same year, and to the Eurocup Second Team season after that, his first year with Unics. Last season Langford averaged Eurocup-best 19.7 points, along with 4.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 16 Eurocup games. He also had 21.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 40 VTB United League games.
So far in his career Langford played two seasons for Khimki Moscow Region, where in 2010-11 season was the Euroleague Regular Season scoring leader with 18.7 points per game. He also helped Khimki win the 2011 VTB United League title. After leaving Khimki, Langford spent one season with Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv, with whom he won a triple crown, and spent two season with EA7 Milan. Langford's first stop in Europe was Vanoli Soresina of the Italian second division. He later moved to the top division to Biella and Virtus Bologna before making the jump to the big stage with Khimki. With Bologna, he won the 2009 EuroChallenge. He also played with San Antonio Spur in the NBA, and Fort Worth Flyers and Austin Toros in Development League.
For Colom (1.88 meters, 27 years old), last season was his first with Unics, and his rookie season in Eurocup. He earned three weekly MVP awards while posting 11.8 points, league-high 7.6 assists, 4 rebounds and 1.3 steals. In VTB United League action, in a role off the bench, he averaged 13.8 points, 6.1 assists and 4.5 rebounds. Colom started his career Lleida in Spain, and has also played with CAI Zaragoza, C.B. L’Hospitalet, Fuenlabrada, Estudiantes and Bilbao Basket before joining Unics last summer. Colom is now set to make his Euroleague debut next season.
