Greek champion Olympiacos Piraeus added strength and athleticism to its frontcourt on Thursday with the addition of a center Khem Birch, who signed a two-year deal. Birch (2.06 meters, 23 years old) arrives from Usak Sportif of Turkey where he averaged 10.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game last season, helping his team reach the Turkish League playoffs. Birch played college basketball at University of Pittsburgh and University of Nevada-Las Vegas, and started his professional career with Sioux Falls in the D-League before coming to Usak last summer. Birch is also a member of the Canadian national team. Now, he is set to make his Turkish Airlines Euroleague debut wearing the uniform of the Greek powerhouse and three-time Euroleague champions.
