Crvena Zvezda holds on to Simonovic, Dangubic
Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade announced that forwards Marko Simonovic and Nemanja Dangubic will keep playing for the Serbian powerhouse. Simonovic (2.03 meters, 30 years old) penned a one-year deal while Dangubic (2.04 meters, 23 years old) re-signed his contract until the end of the 2017-18 season. Simonovic is set to start his fourth season with Zvezda. He averaged 7.4 points on 42.1% three-point shooting in 27 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season, in which he helped Zvezda win both the Serbian League and the Adriatic League titles. Simonovis also lifted back-to-back Serbian Cup trophies with Zvezda in 2013 and 2014, as well as winning three consecutive Montenegrin doubles - league and cup titles - with Buducnost VOLI Podgorica from 2009 to 2011. He has also played for Radnicki Beograd, Smederevo, Lavovi 063 Belgrade and Hemofarm Stada of Serbia, Telindus Ostend of Belgium and ALBA Berlin of Germany. Dangubic averaged 5.2 points in 19 EuroLeague games last season. In his two years with Zvezda, Dangubic helped the team win back-to-back Serbian League and Adriatic League titles, also lifting the Serbian Cup trophy in 2015. He has also played for Kris Kros Pancevo, Hemofarm Vrsac and Mega Vizura. Dangubic helped Serbia win silver medals at the U18 European Championships and the U19 World Championships in 2011. Both Dangubic and Simonovic are members of the Serbian national team and helped it qualify to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil just today.
