Galatasaray bolsters frontcourt with Thompson
It has been a busy day for Galatasaray Odebank Istanbul on Tuesday, as the Eurocup champions bolstered their frontcourt with the addition of forward Deon Thompson. He is club's third signing on the day when club also announced arrivals of Jon Diebler and Alex Tyus. Thompson (2.03 meters, 27 years old) last played for FC Bayern Munich where in Turkish Airlines EuroLeague last season he averaged 9.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.1 blocks. In Eurocup, Thompson posted 10.2 points and 4.8 rebounds, but in the two-game quarterfinal series against Galatasaray he averaged 17 points and 7 rebounds. For Thompson this was second stint with Bayern, where he also played during 2013-14 campaign, helping Bayern win its first German League title in almost 50 years and reach the EuroLeague Top 16. He also played for Ikaros Kallitheas of Greece, Union Olimpija Ljubljana of Slovenia, ALBA Berlin of Germany, and Liaoning Jiebao Hunters in China. Thompson helped Olimpija win the Slovenian Cup title in 2012 and also lifted the German Cup trophy with ALBA in 2013.
