Darussafaka adds Eurocup's top rebounder, Moerman, to frontcourt
On Thursday, Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul continued its ambitious roster rebuild by signing power forward Adrien Moerman, who arrives from fellow Turkish side Banvit Bandirma. In just his second season away from his native France, Moerman (2.03 meters, 26 years old) posted big numbers in helping Banvit reach the 2015-16 Eurocup elimination rounds. He averaged 13.7 points and a competition-best 8.6 rebounds plus 1.2 steals and 0.7 blocks over 18 Eurocup games for Banvit. Moerman was the Last 32 Round 4 MVP after dropping 19 points on near-perfect shooting, 14 rebounds and 2 blocks against ratiopharm Ulm. He was even better in the Turkish League, which he led with 10.2 rebounds and ranked third with 17.6 points per game. Moerman has also played for Chorale Roanne, JSF Nanterre, Entente Orleans 45, SLUC Nancy and Limoge CSP in France, as well as for Bilbao Basket of Spain, which he helped reach the Eurocup Championship Game in 2013. His trophy case includes a pair of French League crowns with Limoges, another with Roanne and a French Cup with Orleans. Moerman was named the 2014-15 French League MVP after averaging 14.5 points and 8.8 rebounds in 41 games. The deal between Darussafaka and Moerman is for one season with an option for another one.
