Crvena Zvezda brings Bjelica home
Milko Bjelica will return to his boyhood club after a decade away. Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade announced Thursday that it had signed the big man to a two-year deal. Bjelica (2.07 meters, 32 years old) is a product of the Crvena Zvezda youth system and played five seasons for its pro team – including three in the EuroCup – before leaving in 2006. He arrives from Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul, for whom Bjelica averaged 7.5 points and 3.4 rebounds in 24 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games. All told he has played 135 EuroLeague games over seven seasons for four clubs: Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius of Lithuania, Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz of Spain and Anadolu Efes Istanbul and Darussafaka of Turkey. He also played a season each for German clubs Braunschweig and Cologne. Bjelica won the 2009 EuroCup with Rytas and has won national cup titles in Serbia, Lithuania and Turkey.
