CSKA Moscow and Jeff Ayres parted ways after the big man’s contract expired. Ayres joined CSKA on a short-term deal to start the season when the club’s frontcourt was depleted due to injuries. He averaged 6 points and 4.8 rebounds in four Turkish Airlines EuroLeague appearances and was a key figure in the team’s Round 8 come-from-behind win against Zalgiris Kaunas when he posted 13 points on 11-of-12 free-throw shooting. With CSKA’s frontcourt nearly back to full strength now that Joel Freeland has returned to full-contact practices, the champs were able to part ways with Ayres.
