Regular Season Round 27 MVP: Sergio Llull, Real Madrid

Sergio Llull added to a spectacular campaign Wednesday by leading Real Madrid to an 85-69 victory over archrival FC Barcelona Lassa and in the process claiming the title as MVP for Round 27 of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season. Llull collected his second MVP of the round this season after torching Barcelona for 21 points and 6 assists in el Clasico. He made 3 of 5 two-point shots, 4 of 7 from behind the arc and was perfect on 3 free throws in setting a career-high with a performance index rating of 32, which was also the highest of any player in Round 27. For the second consecutive round, Jayson Granger of Anadolu Efes Istanbul is the runner-up in the MVP count. Granger starred in a 68-76 road win at Zalgiris Kaunas with 25 points, 8 assists and a performance index rating of 30. All-EuroLeague guard Milos Teodosic of CSKA Moscow was on top of his game with the third-highest index rating of the round, 29, in a 95-85 victory over Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul. The maestro only missed 2 shots in compiling 20 points and 10 assists. Rounding out the top performances for Round 27 were Kostas Papanikolaou of Olympiacos Piraeus and Diamon Simpson from Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv, each with index ratings of 26. Papanikolaou contributed a team-high 17 points, 9 rebounds and 2 steals in the Reds’ 64-66 overtime win at Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade. Simpson posted 14 points, 12 boards and 5 steals as Maccabi edged Fenerbahce 79-81 in Istanbul at the buzzer.

Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul guard Scottie Wilbekin was the top scorer for Round 27 with a career-high 26 points, which was the result of his 8-of-9 three-point shooting! Keith Langford of Unics Kazan was third for the round with 24 points and continues to lead the season-long charts with an average of 22.5 points per game. Basknonia Vitoria Gasteiz big man Toko Shengelia and Efes forward Tyler Honeycutt shared the honors as the round’s top rebounder with 12 each. All-EuroLeague center Ekpe Udoh of Fenerbahce is now first in rebounding (7.5 rpg.) and blocks (2.3 bpg.) this season. Teodosic delivered 10 assists, which were not only the most in the round, but also raised his league-best average to 7.3 assists per game. Simpson’s 5 steals in the first game of the round proved a number no other player could match. Crvena Zvezda’s Charles Jenkins is averaging 1.9 steals per game to lead the league. And Galatasaray Odeabank Istanbul teammates Sinan Guler and Alex Tyus each blocked 3 shots Wednesday to lead all players for the round. Six players collected double-doubles in Round 27: Furkan Aldemir (10 points, 10 rebounds) of Darussafaka, Shengelia (16 points, 12 rebounds), Simpson, Teodosic, Ante Tomic (12 points, 10 rebounds) of Barcelona and Udoh (13 points, 10 rebounds).
