Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul announced Tuesday that point guard Scottie Wilbekin has signed a two-year contract extension. Wilbekin, 23, has become a leading player for Darussafaka, which is in the throes of fighting for the last remaining ticket to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Playoffs. This season he leads the team with 53 three-pointers, ranks third with 11.2 points per game and second in both assists (3.1 apg.) and steals (1.4 spg.), the latter of which is fourth-best in the EuroLeague. Just last week, Wilbekin set a club record by making 8 of 9 three-pointers in Moscow. This is Wilbekin’s second season with the club after splitting his first season as a professional between Cairns Taipans in Australia and AEK Athens in Greece.
"I am very happy to extend my contract with Darussafaka Dogus," Wilbekin said in a release provided by the club. "I am very happy to play for Dacka and to live in Istanbul. I am already excited for the upcoming seasons. My goals are already clear: to be better as a team every season and win championships."
