Already working hard on its Turkish Airlines EuroLeague roster for next season, Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz announced the signing of all-around small forward Janis Timma to a three-year deal on Thursday. Timma (2.01 meters, 24 years old) arrives from Zenit St. Petersburg, where he averaged 16.2 points on 64.9% two-point shooting and 44.3% three-point shooting, 4.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 13 7DAYS EuroCup games last season. He was the seventh top scorer in the competition, ranking eighth in performance index rating pwer game (16.2 PIR). He was also seventh in three-pointers made, 39, and the top-ranked forward in that category. Timma also averaged 12.6 points on 60.9% two-point shooting and 4.1 rebounds in 28 VTB League games, helping Zenit reach the semifinals. Timma has also played for Daugavpils/Kraslava, DU/Hansabanka, BA Riga, ASK Riga, Keizarmezs Riga, Barons Riga, Liepajas Lauvas, Ventspils and VEF Riga, all of his native Latvia. Timma won two Latvian League titles, with Ventspils in 2014 and VEF Riga in 2015. He also lifted the Baltic League trophy with Ventpils in 2013. Timma is also a regular member of the Latvian national team. After three consecutive seasons in the EuroCup, Timma is set to make his EuroLeague debut with Baskonia next season.
