Maccabi brings Spahija back to EuroLeague

Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv brought Neven Spahija back to the EuroLeague as the team's new head coach for the next two seasons. Spahija, 54, previously coached Maccabi during the 2006-07 season. He last coached in the EuroLeague in the 2011-12 season with Fenerbahce Istanbul. Spahija spent the previous two seasons with Atlanta in the NBA as the lead assistant coach. He has coached six different teams in parts of seven EuroLeague seasons to a combined 67-56 record and reached the 2008 Final Four with Tau Ceramica Vitoria. Spahija also won the 2010 EuroCup as head coach of Valencia Basket.

Spahija has also coached Gradine Pula and Cibona Zagreb of his native Croatia, Krka Novo Mesto of Slovenia, Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius of Lithuania, Avtodor Saratov in Russia and Roseto in Italy. He has won national championships in Croatia, Israel, Lithuania, Slovenia, Spain and Turkey as well as national cups in Croatia and Turkey and the Baltic League. Spahija is also a former head coach of the Croatian national team.
