Khimki keeps Sokolov, Vialtsev

Khimki Moscow Region kept working hard on keeping a core of players from recent seasons by re-signing center Dmitry Sokolov and shooting guard Egor Vialtsev to respective one-year deals, with an option to extend either deal until the end of the 2018-19 season. Sokolov (2.14 meters, 32 years old) averaged 4.1 points and 1.8 rebounds in 15 7DAYS EuroCup games last season. Sokolov has played in the Russia his whole career, starting it with Stavropol and also working for Pulkovo St. Petersburg, Lokomotiv Rostov, Unics Kazan, CSKA Moscow and Krasny Oktaybr Volgograd. In his four seasons with CSKA, Sokolov helped the team win three VTB League titles and four Russian League crowns, also reaching three EuroLeague Final Fours in 2010, 2012 and 2013. He won two Russian Cup titles with Unics in 2009 and 2014, also helped it reach the EuroCup Finals in 2014. Last season, Sokolov helped Khimi make it to the EuroCup playoffs and the VTB League finals. He has also been a member of the Russian national team and won a gold medal with it at the 2005 U20 European Championships.

Vialtsev (1.93 meters, 31 years old) is set to start his seventh season with Khimki. He averaged 5.2 points in 14 EuroCup games last season. In his six seasons with the club, Vialtsev helped Khimki win two EuroCup titles in 2012 and 2015, as well as reaching the VTB League finals in 2015 and 2017. He started his career with CSKA Moscow and also played for CSK VVS-Samara, Ural Great Perm, Triumph Lyubertsy and Khimki Podmoskovye Moscow Region. In his two years with CSKA, Vialtsev helped the team win the Russian League title and make it to the EuroLeague Final Four in 2003 and 2004. He also helped Ural Great win the FIBA EuroCup Challenge title in 2006.
