Efes adds crafty swingman Simon
Anadolu Efes Istanbul added plenty of versatility to its backcourt by bringing in experienced swingman Krunoslav Simon, who signed a one-year deal with his new team on Sunday. Efes keeps an option to keep Simon until the end of the 2018-19 season. Simon (1.97 meters, 32 years old) arrives from EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, where he averaged 11 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.9 assists and a steal in 21 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games last season. Simon is a veteran of five EuroLeague season - he played the competition with Zagreb of his hometown in native Croatia, as well as with Unicaja Malaga of Spain, Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar of Russia and Milan. He averaged double digits in scoring in each of his five EuroLeague season, having a playing time career average of 26:24 minutes minutes per game - which ranks him seventh all-time among players with at least 80 career appearances. In Efes, Simon re-unites with head coach Velimir Perasovic, as the two worked together with the Croatian national team, as well as with forward Derrick Brown, who was Simon’s teammate at Lokomotiv. He helped Zagreb win the Croatian League title in 2011 and three Croatian Cup crowns in 2008, 2010 and 2011. Simon was also successful in Milan, winning a Italian League and two Italian Cup titles in his two seasons with the club.
