Khimki extends EuroCup MVP Shved
Khimki Moscow Region reached a new agrement with combo guard Alexey Shved to keep working together until the end of the 2019-20 season, the club announced Saturday night. Shved (1.98 meters, 28 years old) earned 7DAYS EuroCup MVP honors last season, leading the competition in scoring (22.1 ppg.) and performance index rating (22 PIR per game). He also averaged four rebounds and 5.2 assists in 14 games with Khimki. Shved started his career with CSKA Moscow's junior team, and also played for CSK VVS Samara and Khimki before returning to CSKA as a first-team member in 2007. He has also played for Dynamo Moscow of Russia, as well as for Minnesota, Philadelphia, Houston and New York of the NBA before returning to Khimki in 2015. Shved helped CSKA win four Russian League titles and lifted the VTB League trophy in 2010 and 2012. Above all, Shved helped CSKA win the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague title in 2008. He was also chosen as the VTB League MVP last season. Shved has also been successful with the Russian national team, helping it win respective bronze medals at EuroBasket 2011 and the 2012 Olympic Games. He has played in 66 EuroLeague games, averaging 10.1 points and 2.6 assists. Shved is now entering the prime of his career and is set to keep shining in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague.
