Just as he was returning to top form, Anadolu Efes Istanbul has lost small forward Zoran Dragic to a right knee injury that will keep him out until September, the club announced. The veteran small forward suffered the injury, a partial ACL tear, during his team’s Turkish Cup victory on Sunday in Istanbul. It comes almost exactly one year after he tore the ACL of the same knee last season with AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan. Last season’s injury prevented Dragic from joining the Slovenian national team for its gold-medal run at EuroBasket 2017 in the summer. Dragic, 28, joined Efes in November and averaged 10.6 points and 2.7 assists in 14 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games. Over his last six EuroLeague appearances, he was worth 15.3 points on 41.4% three-point shooting plus 3.0 assists. Dragic was the Round 17 MVP after leading Efes to victory over Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade with 24 points on perfect shooting. This was his fifth EuroLeague campaign after two with Unicaja Malaga and one each with Khimki Moscow Region and Milan.
