Anadolu Efes Istanbul gave its roster a boost for the final stretch of the season with the addition of forward Sonny Weems, who signed a deal until the end of this season, club announced on Saturday. The move for Efes comes days after losing forward Zoran Dragic to a season-ending knee injury. Weems (1.98 meters, 31 years old), a former All-EuroLeague forward, arrives from has Zhejiang of the Chinese League, where he posted 31.7 points, 8 rebounds and 5.9 assists. Last season, Weems wore the uniform of Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv, and in 19 games in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague posted 11.6 points, 3.4 assists, 3.3 rebounds. Weems is a veteran of five EuroLeague seasons, and in 117 games in the competition has career-average of 13.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists. He made his debut with Zalgiris Kaunas in 2011-12 campaign, before joining CSKA Moscow where he played the next three seasons. In each of the three he reached the Euroleague Final Four with the Russian powerhouse, earning 2013-14 All-Euroleague First Team honors in the process. Weems also played with Denver, Toronto, Phoenix and Philadelphia in the NBA, and Colorado of the NBA Development League, team he won NBDL title in 2009.
