Madrid's Campazzo out for playoffs with knee injury
Real Madrid received bad news on the eve of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Playoffs with the announcement Monday that point guard Facundo Campazzo needs knee surgery. That means that Campazzo is not expected to play in his team's best-of-five series against Panathinaikos Superfoods Athens, which is set to begin on Tuesday in the Greek capital. Campazzo (1.79, 27 years old) will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee due to cartilage damage. A native of Argentina, Campazzo was a member of Madrid's 2015- EuroLeague-winning squad. He averaged 8.4 points, 4.8 assists and 1.5 steals in 28 EuroLeague games for Los Blancos. Reigning EuroLeague MVP Sergio Llull, who is still recovering from a torn ACL suffered over the summer, is nearing his return to action, but will not travel to Games 1 and 2 in Athens.
