7DAYS EuroCup champion Darussafaka Istanbul continued to get ready for its return to the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague by re-signing center Michael Eric on a two-year deal, the club announced on Thursday. Eric (2.10 meters, 30 years old) averaged 7.7 points and 5.7 rebounds on the way to last season’s EuroCup title. In the Turkish League action, he contributed 9.3 points and a team-high 5.9 rebounds last season. Eric made his EuroCup debut in 2016-17 with Bilbao Basket, when he ranked fifth in blocks (1.1 bpg.) in the regular season. He has also played for Canton, Frisco and Texas of the G-League, Panelefsiniakos Eleusina and AEK Athens of Greece, and Enel Brindisi of Italy. After back-to-back EuroCup campaigns, Eric is now set to make his EuroLeague debut.
"After the extraordinary success last year, I am very happy that I will stay at Darussafaka for at least another season," Eric said. "It is really exciting to play in the EuroLeague after proving ourselves in the EuroCup. I hope I will continue to contribute to the Darussafaka family just like before. I cannot wait for next season to start."
