Fenerbahce bolsters frontcourt with Lauvergne

Turkish Airlines EuroLeague runner-up Fenerbahce Dogus Istanbul added the first new piece to its roster this summer by signing power forward Joffrey Lauvergne to a two-year deal, the club announced on Wednesday. Lauvergne (2.11 meters, 26 years old) arrives from San Antonio of the NBA, where he averaged 4.1 points and 3.1 rebounds over 55 games last season. He played a total of 208 games over the past four seasons in the NBA with Denver, Chicago, Oklahoma City and San Antonio. Lauvergne returns to the EuroLeague for the first time since the 2013-14 season when he was competition's leading rebounder with 8.6 boards per game for Partizan Belgrade.

Lauvergne made his EuroLeague debut as a 21-year old with Elan Chalon-Sur-Saone of his native France. Before joining Chalon as a teenager, he was developed at the French National Institute of Sport (INSEP). Lauvergne also played for Valencia Basket and Khimki Moscow Region, the latter of which he helped win the 7DAYS EuroCup crown in 2015. He won the French triple-crown with Chalon in 2012, and later helped Partizan win Adriatic League title in 2013 plus a pair of Serbian League crowns. Lauvergne is a regular member of the French national team, which he helped capture the gold medal at EuroBasket 2013, and bronze medals at the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup and EuroBasket 2015.
