CSKA signs versatile veteran guard Hackett
CSKA Moscow made a change in the backcourt by signing a veteran guard Daniel Hackett, the club announced Tuesday. Hackett (1.97 meters, 30 years old) takes the place of Leo Westermann, who became a free agent when CSKA declined the option on his contract earlier in the week. Hackett arrives from Brose Bamberg, where he averaged 9.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 26 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague appearances last season. He also posted 10.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists in the German League. Last season was Hackett’s sixth EuroLeague campaign. Before that he spent two seasons with Olympiacos Piraeus, the second of which was cut short by a leg injury that caused him to miss six months. Hackett has made 134 appearances in the competition with Brose, Olympiacos, Montepaschi Siena and EA7 Emporio Armani Milan; he has career averages of 9.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists. Hackett has also played for Benetton Treviso and Scavolini Pesaro in his native Italy and is a long-time member of the Italian national team.
