FC Bayern Munich announced on Saturday that power forward Milan Macvan has reinjured the left knee that saw the last season end early for him and will miss several months of the coming one, as well. Macvan (2.05 meters, 28 years old) was due to return for his sixth Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season but instead will be operated on again in the coming days, the club said. It was the same left knee in which his anterior cruciate ligament was torn in January. Macvan was averaging 11.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists in the 7DAYS EuroCup last season before the injury. Bayern made it to the quarterfinals without him but could go no further.
The EuroLeague's Rising Star Trophy winner in 2009, Macvan has averaged 8.1 points and 4.5 rebounds over 82 previous games in the competition with Maccabi Tel Aviv, Partizan Belgrade, Galatasaray Istanbul and AX Armani Exchange Olimpia Milan. He has also played all of six seasons and parts of two in the EuroCup, where his career scoring average is 11.1 points. He has been a silver medalist at the 2016 Olympic Games, and at the 2009 and 2017 EuroBaskets.
