FC Barcelona Lassa grabbed a very important road victory on Friday night, downing Darussafaka Tekfen Istanbul 71-79, and the one-two punch provided by the big man pairing of Ante Tomic and Chris Singleton was the main reason why. Tomic and Singleton combined for 35 of their team’s points (Singleton 18, Tomic 17), along with 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.
They are, of course, very different players: Tomic excels in the paint with his ability to score or facilitate for his teammates through clever passing, while Singleton has a deeper shooting range and an explosive ability to grab offensive rebounds such as the five he grabbed on Friday night. And together, they are starting to form a pretty awesome package.
Last week’s home win over FC Bayern Munich also owed a lot to their complementary skills, with the two big men combining for another more than handy (and very similar) set of statistics of 33 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.
So it is two weeks in a row that Barcelona has benefitted from The Tomic and Singleton Show, and also two extremely important triumphs for the team. Against Bayern it was a first win of the season, and at Darussafaka the first road win duly followed. That gives Barcelona an important platform to build upon as the Spanish side looks to mount a serious playoffs challenge – and you can be sure that the deadly duo of Tomic and Singleton will continue to play a major role.
