
Le Mans Sarthe Basket forfitied its frontcourt for the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Qualifying Rounds by extending big man JP Batista and forward Charles Kahudi. Batista (2.07 meters, 30 years old) re-signed with Le Mans for two more years. He averaged 11 points and 3.5 rebounds in 6 Eurocup games last season. Batista boosted his numbers up to 14.5 points and 6.2 rebounds in 37 French League games, in which Le Mans went all the way to the title game. In his four seasons with Le Mans, Batista won the French Cup and the Semaine des As titles in 2009, reaching another French League final in 2010. He has also played for Barons/LMT Riga in Latvia and Lietuvos Rytas in Lithuania throughout his professional career, which started once he graduated from Gonzaga University (NCAA). He won the Baltic League title and reach the ULEB Cup final with L. Rytas in 2007, lifting the FIBA EuroCup and the Baltic League trophies with Barons in 2008. Batista is also a member of the Brazilian national team, to which he helped to win the 2007 Panamerican Games, the 2009 FIBA Americas Tournament and the 2010 South American Championships. Kahudi (1.97 meters, 25 years old) averaged 4.8 points and 4.2 rebounds in 5 Eurocup games with Le Mans last season. He extended his contract for three more years and is set to enter his fourth season with the team. Kahudi has also played for JDA Dijon Bourgogne, Cholet Basket and ALM Evreux Basket, as well as being a member of the French national team. He helped France to win a silver medal at EuroBasket 2011.
