Lukoil inks Swiss League MVP Abukar
Mohamed Abukar (Photo: FIBA Europe/Ove Maidla)Turkish Airlines Euroleague hopeful Lukoil Academic bolstered its lineup by signing forward Mohamed Abukar, who was the Swiss League MVP last season playing for Lugano Tigers. Abukar (2.08 meters, 27 years old) dominated to the tune of 20.3 points and 5.6 rebounds in leading Lugano to the Swiss League title for the third time in as many seasons with the club. He made his professional debut in 2007 with Pallacanestro Cantu, the same team he will face with Lukoil in the opening round of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Qualifying Rounds. He has also played for Amsterdam in the Dutch League and Austin and Idaho in the D-League.
