Cedevita inks Babic through 2016
Luka Babic - Croatia (Photo: FIBA Europe)A promising small forward is set to make his Turkish Airlines Euroleague debut next season, as Cedevita Zagreb announced the arrival of Luka Babic, who inked a four-year deal with the Croatian powerhouse. Babic (2.01 meters, 20 years old) arrives from KK Split, where he averaged 9.1 points on 66.2% two-point shooting, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 36 Croatian League games last season. He helped Split to reach the Croatian League semifinals and earned the right to make his national team debut this summer. Cedevita also found a new assistant coach in Mladen Starcevic, who spent the last five years in Poland. Starcevic, age 59, coached Polonia 2011 Warszawa in the last five seasons, leading it to promote to the Polish first division twice. He also coached Hermes Analitica Zagreb, Sibenik and Split in Croatia, as well as Union Olimpija's second team and Maribor in Slovenia. Starcevic also worked as assistant coach with Cibona, Caplija, Polzela and the Polish national team.
