Ukrainian champion BC Donetsk fortified its frontline with the signing of forward Kaloyan Ivanov, who was the Spanish League's second-best rebounder last season. Ivanov (2.01 meters, 26 years old) averaged 12 points and 7.7 rebounds in 33 Spanish League games with Lucentum Alicante last season, which was his sixth in the Spanish League. He led the league in offensive rebounding (3.5 orpg.), was second in average performance index rating (17.5), earned the league’s player of the week three times and was named the MVP for the month of December. The season before Ivanov helped Cajasol Sevilla reach the Eurocup final. He began his career with Arsenal Kazanlak in his native Bulgaria and also played for Dunav Russe, Cherno More Varna and Levski Sofía before heading abroad to play with Avtodor Saratov in Russia as a teenager. In 2006, Ivanov signed with ViveMenorca in Spain, where he spent three seasons. He later played with Suzuki Manresa. Ivanov has also been a longtime member of the Bulgarian national team. With Donetsk he will try to reach the Turkish Airlines Euroleague regular season, where his twin brother, Dejan Ivanov, will compete this season with Lietuvos Rytas.
