
Union Olimpija Ljubljana re-signed veteran playmaker Jan Mocnik for the 2012-13 season, the club announced Wednesday. Mocnik (1.76 meters, 25 years old) joined Olimpija midway through last season and averaged 7 points and 3 assists in two Turkish Airlines Euroleague games and 7.4 points and 2.8 assists in 16 Adriatic League games. He previously spent the 2007-08 season with Olimpija and averaged 1.1 points and 1.3 assists as a reserve in 11 Euroleague games and 2.4 points and 1.6 assists in 20 Adriatic League appearances. Mocnik grew up in the Slovenian town of Nova Gorica and began his basketball career there. He later played for Kraski Zidar Sezana before joining Olimpija in 2007. In that season with Olimpija, Mocnik helped the team win the Slovenian League. He later played for PGB Basket Poznan in Poland, Postojna in Slovenia and Snaidero Udine in Italy.
