WHAT'S NEW
The perennial Serbian champion is in a rebuilding mode and has the perfect man to lead the process. Club legend Dusko Vujosevic is back on the bench of the team that he not long ago guided to three consecutive Euroleague playoffs appearances. He will work with the youngest roster in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague. Newcomers to the team include the promising playmaking duo of Torey Thomas and Leo Westermann as well as rookie power forward and potential defensive ace Drew Gordon. Promising centers Dejan Musli and Djordje Gagic add more traits Vujosevic likes –size, muscle and energy – in the paint.
THE BACKCOURT
Thomas will likely handle the ball and set tone on defense for the rest of the sizeable unit of perimeter players – Dragan Milosavljevic, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Marko Cakarevic, Danilo Andjusic and promising combo-guard Westermann. The Energetic and deep Partizan backcourt will try to play lock-down defense and run in transition as often as possible. Thomas's ability to find the open man and the addition of youngsters Westermann and Bogdanovic should improve Partizan's three-point shooting; the black-and-whites were second-bottom in the Euroleague in three-pointers made last season.
THE FRONTCOURT
Gordon, who is best known for his defensive play and shot-blocking skills, will be asked to lead a group of players that has all the tools to excel at crashing the boards and playing aggressive defense. High-flying Davis Bertans and Vladimir Lucic pose threats at forward, while Musli will look to maximize his phenomenal talents under Vujosevic. Similar is true for Branislav Djekic, a potentially dangerous shooter and crafty forward who hopes to break out. And Partizan has even more size with Gagic and Nemanja Besovic.
OUTLOOK
With a roster full of athletic youngsters who will feed off the club’s brilliant fan support, Partizan will once again play physical basketball and ferocious defense – the exact style that led Vujosevic's Partizan to success in the past. Through the added rebounding, scoring and defense – despite there being a bunch of new young faces in the locker room – Partizan, its faithful fans and Vujosevic on the bench could conjure up another magic season.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Dragan Milosavljevic
There is a lot of pride in Partizan's long-standing tradition of always playing hard and Milosavljevic is the man meant to carry that into the new season. Though he is just 23 years old, Milosavljevic is one of only two returning starters and is suddenly one of the more experienced players on the Partizan roster. Accordingly, his ability to score and drain threes, while also stopping opposing scorers on defense, could set the tone for the team as a whole. |
