Guduric's scoring spree inspired Fenerbahce

Zeljko Obradovic is a man who knows how to analyze a game of basketball and after his team's 70-74 victory over Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv on Thursday night, the legendary Fenerbahce Istanbul coach concluded that the difference between the teams was "small details". Perhaps the most important of those small details came wrapped up in a 1.96-meter package in the form of Marko Guduric, whose sensational burst of scoring midway through the fourth quarter had a major say in deciding the outcome.

With seven minutes remaining the game was perfectly poised, tied at 57-57. Guduric had contributed little, scoring no points, when he received a pass in the left corner, stepped inside a defender and had no hesitation in sending up a three-point strike that found nothing but the bottom of the net. A minute later, he gathered a pass from Nicolo Melli and sent up another three-pointer. Swish. The next possession, he scored again – this time a mid-range jumper. Then another pass from Melli, another triple. And finally, with the shot-clock running down, Guduric penetrated towards the basket and floated up a one-handed off-balance runner, which again dropped in.

Five shots, 13 points, and a tied game had been turned into an 8-point lead in the space of four minutes and six seconds. Maccabi tried to respond, but never got closer than 3 and Fenerbahce was able to claim a thrilling road victory – in large part thanks to Marko Guduric, the biggest of all those small details.
