Herbalife Gran Canaria bolstered its backcourt by signing point guard Josh Magette to a temporary deal, the club announced Monday. He gives Coach Garcia a fresh playmaking option with point guards Clevin Hannah and Nikola Radicevic dealing with injuries. Magette (1.85 meters, 29 years old) arrives from Cedevita Zagreb, where he took part in three 7DAYS EuroCup games earlier this season, during which he averaged 6.0 points on 42.9% three-point shooting, 5.3 assists and 1.3 steals over 17:38 minutes. He split the previous season with Atlanta in the NBA and Erie in the D-League. Magette led the D-League in assists with 10.1 per game in addition to 15.1 points and 1.9 steals per game. He has been among the top players in the D-League in recent years with Los Angeles; Magette was named to the 2017 All- D-League Second Team. He started his professional basketball career in the Dutch League with Landstede Zwolle in 2012 and also played one season in Greece for Koroivos Amaliadas.
