Lithuanian champs Zalgiris Kaunas announced on Friday that one of the top Lithuanian prospects, guard Rokas Jokubaitis, has agreed to sign a three-year term deal with the club. Jokubaitis (1.92 meters, 18 years old) had 12 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague appearances in his debut season averaging 2.6 points in less than six minutes per game. In the Lithuanian league this season, he averaged 4.3 points and 1.5 assists in 11 minutes. The young point guard has settled down in the team and gaines the trust of coach Sarunas Jasikevicius, and will likely be one of the main pillars of the Zalgiris team in the next years.
"Although Rokas just recently turned 18, his understanding of the game and strong work ethic matches those of the players of the highest caliber." Zalgiris sports director Robertas Javtokas said. "He is not only one of the hottest Lithuanian basketball prospects, but also of the most talented guards in European basketball. It was an important goal and a priority for us to retain him. We're delighted Rokas is happy with the conditions provided and with this long term agreement, he’s shown confidence in us."
