CSKA extends four-time champ Hines

Turkish Airlines EuroLeague champion CSKA Moscow continued cementing its roster for next season by signing team captain and a four-time EuroLeague winner Kyle Hines to a two-year contract extension, the club announced on Tuesday. A unique, undersized center, Hines (1.98 meters, 32 years old) is just the second foreign CSKA team captain ever. He has been one of the key figures in helping the team win EuroLeague titles in 2016 and 2019. Hines, who also won back-to-back continental crowns with Olympiacos Piraeus in 2012 and 2013, is the only active player with four EuroLeague titles to his name. He is also one of just three players ever to capture two EuroLeague titles with different clubs, although only Hines has won all of his in the Final Four era.

Last season, his ninth in the competition, Hines averaged 7.3 points and 3.6 rebounds. In 253 career appearances in the EuroLeague, Hines ranks second all-time with 513 offensive rebounds, third with 208 blocks, and eighth with 1,152 total rebounds. He started his professional career with second-division Italian team Prima Veroli and spent two seasons there before moving to Brose Bamberg of Germany, where he made his EuroLeague debut in the 2010-11 campaign. Hines will now have a chance to continue building his EuroLeague legacy, having signed with the club until the end of 2020-21 season.

"I'm happy to be returning back to CSKA," Hines said. "I thank the management and coach for giving me this opportunity. I look forward to continuing to fight for the fans of CSKA and the future of bringing more titles and championships back to Moscow."

"Kyle is our captain, a true leader in the locker room and on the court, my right hand," Dimitris Itoudis, CSKA's head coach, said. "He is with the club for six years and we have been working for five years together. I am happy that we will continue with such a great character and player."
