For his 10th season in Europe's premier basketball competition, James Gist is returning to the city where he debuted; Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade announced the signing of the athletic forward on a two-year deal. Gist (2.01 meters, 32 years old) has spent the past six and a half seasons with Panathinaikos Athens, which he joined in a midseason trade with Unicaja Malaga in December 2012. He played a total of 181 EuroLeague games with the Greens and helped the team to five Greek League championships and four Greek Cups. Last season, Gist averaged 7.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in 33 EuroLeague games last season.
Gist began his EuroLeague career in the Serbian capital with Partizan Belgrade in 2010 and he played for Fenerbahce Istanbul the following season. Gist has also suited up for Biella in Italy and Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar in Russia. He helped Partizan to a triple crown season with triumphs in the Adriatic League, Serbian League and Serbian Cup. Gist played for Team USA at the Pan American Games in 2007.
