Real Madrid tabs Spanish League MVP Laprovittola

Real Madrid strengthened its backcourt by signing playmaker Nico Laprovittola for the coming season. Laprovittola (1.90 meters, 29 years old) was the Spanish League MVP last season with Divina Seguros Joventut Badalona. He was the Spanish League's best scorer (17.1 ppg.) and also produced 6.4 assists in 36 league games. Laprovittola started his professional basketball career with Lanus Buenos Aires of his native Argentina. He has also played for Clube de Regatas do Flamengo of Brazil, Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius of Lithuania, Estudiantes and KIROLBET Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz of Spain, San Antonio of the NBA and Zenit St. Petersburg of Russia. He won the Brazilian League with Flamengo in 2014 and 2015 and also helped that team lift the Liga Americas trophy in 2014 and conquer the Intercontinental Cup in 2015. Laprovittola is a regular on the Argentinean national team, with which he won the gold medal at the South American Championship in 2012 and the silver at the same tournament in 2014. He also led Argentina to three medals at the FIBA Americas championship - silvers in 2015 and 2017 and bronze in 2013.
