One of the most spectacular newcomers to the Turkish Airlnes EuroLeague last season, forward Derrick Williams, will play his second campaign in the competition with perennial Final Four contender Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul, the club announced on Thursday. Williams (2.03 meters, 28 years old) joined Bayern ahead of Round 2 and came off the bench in all but two regular season games, but still ranked ninth in the league in scoring with 13.4 points and posted a team-high 4.2 rebounds. He was worth 12.1 points and 3.5 rebounds in the German League, too, as Bayern defended its title there for the first time in more than half a century.
Williams, the second overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, played parts of seven seasons in the NBA for Minnesota, Sacramento, New York, Miami, Cleveland and the Los Angeles Lakers. He averaged 8.9 points and 4.0 rebounds in 428 NBA regular season career games. Prior to joining Bayern, Williams also spent time with Tianjin Gold Lions in China.
