ALBA adds firepower with Eriksson

ALBA Berlin added some experienced firepower to its perimeter on Saturday by inking Marcus Eriksson, one of the sharpest shooters in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague last season, to a four-year deal. Eriksson (2.01 meters, 25 years old) arrives from Herbalife Gran Canaria, with whom he made 4.5 three-point shots per 40 minutes last season, the highest rate in the entire EuroLeague. He finished the season having averaged 10.4 points in less than 19 minutes per game, for the 12th highest scoring rate in the league (22.4 points over 40 minutes). In real numbers, only three players averaged more than Eriksson's 2.1 triples made per game, but none of them had better accuracy than his 41.5%. Of the eight players who downed more than his 61 three-point shots, only two of them had better efficience than Eriksson.

After starting his career at Uppsala in his native Sweden, Eriksson moved to spain as a teenager to join Manresa for two seasons around two more in the FC Barcelona system. He made his EuroLeague debut with Barcelona at age 21 and scored his first 2 points in the competition against Real Madrid in that 2015-16 season. After one more season with Barcelona, he moved to Gran Canaria and averaged 15.4 points over 14 games, and ranking first in three-pointers made per 40 minutes (5.2). He ranked second in three-point accuracy, hitting a remakable 54.9% of his attempts from downtown.
