An impact rookie from last season is changing Turkish Airlines EuroLeague teams with the announcement on Saturday that big man Zach LeDay is joining Zalgiris Kaunas on a one-plus-one contract. LeDay (2.02 meters, 25 years old) broke Olympiacos Piraeus's single-game record for performance index rating with a 42 in his 10th-ever EuroLeague appearance last season when he went off for 28 points, 8 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks against Buducnost VOLI Podgorica in late November. He would score in double digits in half of his 30 EuroLeague games and averaged 9.7 points to go with 4.0 rebounds in just over 17 minutes per game. His 1.7 offensive rebounds per game were second-best on the team and his 78.1% free throw accuracy seventh-best among centers in the EuroLeague. LeDay had played his first pro season with Hapoel Galil Gilboa of Israel. He ranked second in the Israeli League that year with 19.5 points per game and fifth in rebounds wiht 8.2. LeDay split his university career between South Florida and Virginia Tech.
