ALBA re-signs Mattisseck, completes roster

ALBA Berlin reached a new agreement with up-and-coming guard Jonas Mattisseck, who re-signed his contract until the end of the 2022-23 season, the club announced Wednesday. Mattisseck (1.94 meters, 19 years old) averaged 7.4 points and 2.6 assists in five 7DAYS EuroCup games with ALBA last season, helping his team reach the finals. He had one of his best games - 10 points, 6 assists - in a Top 16 showdown in which his team was without its two main point guards, Peyton Siva and Stefan Peno. Mattisseck also played for ALBA's vinculated, third-division team, SSV Lokomotive Bernau, averaging 12.5 points and 3.6 assists in 20 games. Born in Berlin and raised with ALBA, Mattisseck will make his Turkish Airlines EuroLeague debut with the German powerhouse next season. With his move, ALBA has completed its roster for the upcoming season.

"I am thrilled to continue playing for ALBA and in my hometown. The long-term contract is a very good condition for me to develop further," Mattisseck said after the agreement. "The fact that I have already gained a lot of experience at the highest level in the past few years and that I already know the majority of the team well, made the step to a complete professional very easy for me. The chemistry in the team is great and it is great fun to play basketball here."
